Today, I got on the bus, and it was packed full of high school students because I'm just that lucky. As I turned my body to sidle my way the mob of sardine-style students, I came face to face with a girl, pressed close in the crowd, and she looked at me and I looked at her. She had fingers stuck up both nostrils. Then, seamlessly, my momentum carried me on and I attached myself to a pole down the aisle, blinking. It was one of those "...Okay!" moments that happen every so often when using public transportation. Later in the day I reached into my jacket pocket for the first time in a long time and found fifty bucks. Woo!

I have also decided that if I were a beautician, I would open a salon that specialized in helping people remake their image, and I would call it Fabula Rasa.

Tonight, I was reminiscing about an exceedingly lulzy talk show segment to cookie_simone - seriously, for a while this was legend in my family, we were CRYING with lol - and decided to see if it was on YouTube. And lo and behold, it is!

This is, as Cookie informs me, the Maury Povich show, and this particular segme deals with ridiculous phobias. And this woman? Is batshit terrified of cotton balls.

Other things I have enjoyed today include Mishaland's first birthday ♥ (bindaroonie actually baked a cake, omg, and lessrest made icons of things people have said in comments - I wonder if any of you can guess which ones are mine?); this macro (it's perfect); the Space promo for 5x10 and this spoilery but awesome screencap taken from it; and the fact that the Supernatural Wiki now has an entry for Marksha. It was dead wrong at first, but I have taken the liberty of correcting it. Ah, Wiki software. Awesome.

I OPENED TOO MANY TABS IN FIREFOX ALL AT ONCE AND IT CRASHED AND NOW IT WON'T COME BACK, AND I HAD LIKE A BAJILLION FICS OPEN IN TABS FROM MONTHS AGO THAT I WILL NEVER FIND AGAIN AND I SHALL NEVER READ THEM AND I AM SAD, AND ALSO THERE WERE COMMENTS AND ENTRIES I INTENDED TO REPLY TO AND NOW THEY ARE LOST AND I CANNOT EVEN REMEMBER WHAT AND WHERE THEY WERE, OH WELL.

In other news, are you ready for your dose of RAAAGE this evening? Yes? Good.

So, many of you on my flist watch - or used to watch - Heroes. And if you've noticed that this show keeps failing not only in regards to consistency, coherency, characterization, and, well, good writing, but also experiences severe levels of racefail and genderfail, then you won't be surprised to learn that at least one if the writers is ignorant and bigoted and happy that way. How do we know this? The guy has a blog, and he is being Wrong On The Internet.

I first heard about this via weaselistic, who linked to a post in which he responded to criticism about Tim Kring. That post is now gone. In the comments, people accused the writers of racism and sexism, inspiring him to make a new post in which he said this:

If you think that Racism and Sexism are thematically integrated in HEROES then you may want to check your intelligence before worrying about it being insulted.

That post is also gone.

What remains is this: I liked the Internet when it was making people money. Oh, don't worry. He fails hard enough in the comments to satiate even the most refined palette.

I don't think white privilege is an issue in Hollywood at this point.

I'm going to go eat dinner, watch SPN and see if that soothes the SEETHING FURY.

In other news, I have another job interview tomorrow. \o/ I'm rather shocked about it, actually, the unemployment rate is 10% and I got three job interviews in one week. Now if only one of them would pan out. Wish me luck!

This is a cry for help sent out to the German speakers on my flist. I have to turn in an assignment today and because I'm a moron, I left the revised copy at home. It's short - about two pages double-spaced - and if someone could look it over for grammatical errors, I would be so grateful.

The 4-day passes that include Preview Night are already sold out, and the 4-day passes without are almost there (and they've raised the price). cookie_simone and I just bought our tickets, despite being woefully unemployed, but I wouldn't even have thought to look until at least December if I hadn't been informed of this.

So, are any of you going? Because meeting up with folks from Teh Internet is always a highlight.

ETA: For all you Joss fans on my flist, Curve magazine has a great article on Dollhouse (and Buffy, and Joss, and Eliza). They talk about Joss' opinion on subtext in his shows ("If you see it, it's there"), Tara and Willow's romance, the potential for a gay storyline in Dollhouse, and use the term "lesbro". Also, Eliza talks about how very much Faith and Buffy were subtextually getting it on. I couldn't find the article online, but it's a great read, so if you see the latest issue of Curve magazine, with Eliza looking gorgeous on the cover, pick it up!

How do I get LJ to stop notifying me of comments in my inbox without also disabling comment notifications in my email?

You can turn on email-only comment notifications by following the steps listed below. Please note that this workaround was made available by accident. As such, it could become unavailable at any time.

1. Go to the notifications page
2. Uncheck both "comments in my journal" and "replies to my comments"
3. Save
4. Check ONLY "replies to my comments"
5. Save
6. Both will then be checked but you should only get replies in email. You'll have to do that every time you change a notification.
